NFL trade rumors have died down some following the plethora of blockbusters we saw earlier in the offseason.
Big-name quarterbacks such as Russell Wilson, Deshaun Watson, Matt Ryan and Carson Wentz found themselves on the move.
We also saw star wide receiver Davante Adams dealt from the Green Bay Packers to the Las Vegas Raiders while Tyreek Hill is now calling South Beach home.

Jimmy Garoppolo unlikely to be traded, release possible
When the offseason began, quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo seemed like a certainty to be dealt. Fast forward to July, he’s the last marquee player remaining in the quarterback carousel. It’s the result of the San Francisco 49ers setting too high of an asking price and Garoppolo undergoing shoulder surgery.
Now the 49ers are in a challenging spot. Garoppolo is on the verge of being cleared to throw, but the only team remaining with any possible need is the Seattle Seahawks. San Francisco isn’t trading Garoppolo within the division, but it also isn’t interested in keeping him at his current $26.95 million cap hit. This could all end in Garoppolo being released.
Arizona Cardinals, QB Kyler Murray in a better place
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray popped up in NFL trade rumors midway through the offseason, unhappy with his contract situation and threatening problems if he didn’t receive an extension. While some questioned whether or not Arizona’s ownership would actually pay out the necessary money to make a long-term deal work, things now look promising in the desert.
According to Lindsay Jones of The Athletic, the “ice between Murray and the Cardinals has thawed substantially.” Both sides are focused on resolving their differences and finding terms of a new extension that makes everyone happy. As a result, while there might have been a few teams hoping Murray demanded a traded, he’ll be residing in Arizona for years to come.
San Francisco 49ers keeping Deebo Samuel, issues not resolved
As San Francisco 49ers training camp arrives, Deebo Samuel still isn’t entirely pleased with his current situation. It’s not about money, San Francisco’s front office is reportedly willing to make him one of the highest-paid offensive weapons in the NFL. As was the case early this offseason, Samuel just doesn’t love the circumstances with the 49ers. With that said, the team is keeping him and there is confidence a long-term extension gets worked out.
Tom Brady to the Miami Dolphins “fake news”
A report broke back in March that Tom Brady was angling for a trade from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the Miami Dolphins after the seven-time Super Bowl champ ended his brief retirement.
All of this came after Miami added Pro Bowlers Terron Armstead and Tyreek Hill to the mix. However, it seemed to be a bit ridiculous on the surface.
New Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel backed that up earlier in the offseason, calling said report “fake news” when speaking to the media. At this point, Tua Tagovailoa is slated to be the Dolphins’ Week 1 starter with Brady playing a third season in Tampa. There’s no other realistic scenario on this front.
Arizona Cardinals shoot down Kyler Murray trade rumors
Throughout pretty much the entire offseason, there’s been continued chatter about Kyler Murray’s contract status. The former No. 1 pick is eligible for an extension for the first time in his career. It’s led to speculation that a trade could be in the cards.
Cardinals general manager Steve Keim shot these rumors down in emphatic fasion during his pre-draft press conference. As for Murray, he’s also seemingly taken a step back from questionable social media activity earlier in the offseason that included the Pro Bowler removing any mention of the Cardinals from his social accounts.
