Now, feast your eyes on the latest NFL offensive rankings following Week 16 of the 2022 NFL season.
20. New Orleans Saints
The season was not what the New Orleans Saints had hoped for. However, in spite of a season-long injury to expected starting QB Jameis Winston, the offense was still a bright spot. Twelve-year veteran Andy Dalton was super-solid as the QB fill-in and rookie wide receiver Chris Olavehad a ROTY-level season.
Yet, in Week 18 they had one of their worst showings of the season as the offensive unit ended their year with just seven points against the Panthers. While veteran star Alvin Kamara shined, Dalton was held well under 200 yards and Olave coughed up a pivotal fumble.
19. Carolina Panthers
The Carolina Panthers’ offensive situation was a mess for much of the year. Baker Mayfield was a massive disappointment at QB and the team traded off their best player on the unit, Christian McCaffrey, before the NFL trade deadline. However, under interim head coach, Steve Wilks the offense was far better.
Unfortunately, they ended their season with a whimper instead of a roar by scoring only 10 points against the Saints. Fortunately for them 10 was enough as the Saint’s offense could only must seven points in Week 18. While the season on the whole was forgettable, the last few weeks had several bright sides, especially for the offense.
18. Atlanta Falcons
For the first half of the season, the Atlanta Falcons offense was one of the biggest surprises in the league. Veteran QB Marcus Mariota was reliable, and their rushing attack was one of the tops in the NFL. However, defenses eventually started to figure them out and forced Atlanta to beat them with their passing. It led to mixed results and Mariota being benched for rookie Desmond Ridder.
While the once formidable offense went into a decline in the final weeks of the season, Week 18 offered a productive finish as they posted 30 points against the Buccaneers. Ridder was solid with 224 passing yards while running back Tyler Allgeier and rookie receiver Drake London ended their campaigns with 100+ yard showings.
17. Baltimore Ravens
Lamar Jackson was having a very good season until a Week 13 knee injury sidelined him and the offense’s efficiency for the next couple of months. Backup Tyler Huntley was not very good in his first couple of starts. In the final game of the season, they were without Jackson and Huntley and had to start third-stringer Anthony Brown. While he was solid (286 passing yards), his two interceptions cost them a playoff home-field coin toss in a loss to the Bengals.
On Wild Card weekend the Ravens got one of those QBs back, but it, unfortunately, wasn’t Jackson. Yet, the team was still in the game late and got a solid effort from Huntley against the Bengals. However, when it mattered most he couldn’t make key plays with the game on the line. He also set up a backbreaking fumble return TD in the fourth.
16. Green Bay Packers
This has been a massively disappointing season for the Green Bay Packers, and especially their offense. They gave QB Aaron Rodgers an absurd contract in the offseason that pays him around $50 million annually, yet the O has been middle of the road at best for much of the year.
While the Packers’ offense was better in the final weeks of the season, in the biggest game of the year, and with a playoff spot on the line, they fell flat. Rodgers barely got over 200 passing yards and the united wracked up a measly 103 yards on the ground. It was a sad finish in a disappointing year for the offense.
2022-2023 NFL offensive stats – Postseason scoring
Let’s take a look at the five NFL offenses that dominated on NFL Wild Card Weekend and posted the most points in the first week of the postseason.
- San Francisco 49ers – 41.0
- Buffalo Bills – 34.0
- Dallas Cowboys – 31.0
- Miami Dolphins – 31.0
- New York Giants – 31.0
15. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
This season has been a very difficult one for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Injuries and off-the-field drama hampered them. Yet, in spite of it all, the offensive side of the ball was still solid and ranked among the top five in the league in passing. It is why they were able to stay in the race and secure an NFC South title in 2022.
On Wild Card weekend QB Tom Brady had a chance to extend his run in Tampa in a matchup with the Dallas Cowboys. He did not get the job done. The legendary QB was a very inefficient 35 of 66 through the air (351 yards and two TDs), while his running attack offered nothing and the receiving corps did not deliver in the biggest game of the year. That is why they take a big fall in our NFL offense rankings after their postseason defeat.
14. Las Vegas Raiders
The Las Vegas Raiders offense was one of the more frustrating units in the 2022-2023 season. A career year from Josh Jacobs and a strong showing from Davante Adams was wasted due to poor scheming of head coach Josh McDaniels and a down year from long-time starting QB Derek Carr.
Unsurprisingly, once Carr was benched, they dropped both games with Jarrett Stidham as their starter, including a season finale defeat to the Chiefs.
13. New York Giants (LW: 16)
The New York Giants’ success on offense this season has been less about the overall talent, and more about great scheming, execution late, and Pro Bowl play from running back Saquon Barkley. Daniel Jones also deserves credit for destroying all of the team’s QB rushing records and being a very solid game manager.
Jones was the star in the Giants’ playoff spot clinching victory against the Cowboys in Week 17 then continued that hot play in an outstanding 301-yard, two-touchdown performance in the biggest game of his career, their playoff opener against the Vikings. He beat them with his arm and legs and stamped his place as the Giants’ signal-caller now and in the future.
In the Divisional Round, he has a far less favorable matchup in the Eagles’ defense. There is a very good chance Jones does not pass for over 200 yards, however, Philadelphia’s defense has had trouble against the run this season. Don’t be shocked if the QB and Barkley have a big day on the ground.

12. Seattle Seahawks
Nfl Cardinals Vs Seahawks Seattle Seahawks At Arizona Cardinals
The Seattle Seahawks offense was one of the feel-good stories of the 2022-2023 NFL season. Many observers of the sport expected a major dropoff on that side of the ball with Russell Wilson gone, yet the team has been shockingly good at times due to Geno Smith’s strong play and rookie Kenneth Walker III having a breakout season.
Smith was far from perfect (213 yards, one TD, two INTs) in Week 18, in their biggest game of the year the offense got it done in overtime to help the team beat the Rams. The victory helped them to land a rough playoff matchup against the 49ers and their monstrous defense.
While the offense looked strong early in staying in their game with rivals the 49ers. Smith still coughed the ball up twice as the veteran group was outplayed by rookie Brock Purdy and San Francisco in the second half.
11. Miami Dolphins
Outside of being without starting QB Tua Tagovailoa for a few weeks, the Miami Dolphins offense was one of the best in the NFL for much of 2022. Especially when it came to the passing game, as off-season acquisition Tyreek Hill was everything the team hoped for. Yet, that wasn’t the case late in the season, especially when their QB went down with another concussion.
In Week 18, they got a solid performance from third-stringer Skylar Thompson as they were able to do just enough to grind out a hard-fought 11-6 win that helped the team secure a first-round matchup in the playoffs against the Bills.
The rookie QB was solid in a pressure-filled playoff clash in Buffalo on Sunday with Tagovailoa and Bridgewater still out. However, in the postseason turnovers are the difference between wins and losses, and the seventh-round pick had two that were costly. Not to mention, he did not get impact performances from his key skill-player teammates.
NFL Team Total Offense Stats: 2023 postseason
Take a look at which offenses racked up the most total yards in the Wild Card Round of this year’s NFL playoffs.
- San Francisco 49ers – 505 yards
- New York Giants – 431 yards
- Dallas Cowboys – 425 yards
- Buffalo Bills – 423 yards
- Jacksonville Jaguars – 390 yards
NFL offense rankings: 10 best 2022
10. Los Angeles Chargers
Justin Herbert continued to evolve into a budding superstar in 2022-2023 and his crew of receivers delivered despite some early injuries. Even after a nasty Week 2 hit knocked him out of the game, he showcased why he could be one of the faces of the NFL for years to come.
In the season finale, Herbert and wide receiver Keenan Allen had outstanding games, however, their defense let them down as 28 was not enough to beat a horrible Broncos team.
On Wild Card weekend the unit was solid as Herbert threw for 273 yards and Gerald Everett pulled in 109 of them. However, it was not enough as their defense let them down in a historic collapse after the opposing QB spotted the team four interceptions and a 27-point lead at one point in the first half. They will look back on this one with frustration all off-season.
9. Jacksonville Jaguars (LW: 6)
With new head coach Doug Pederson leading the team, Trevor Lawrence and the offense were far more potent in 2022-2023. They have a solid threat on the ground with Travis Etienne and had a legit WR1 in Christian Kirk. However, they were also very inconsistent at times.
In one of the biggest games the organization has had in years, the offense was able to get the job done and lead them to a 20-16 win over the Titans and the division title. In NFL Wild Card Weekend they overcame the biggest deficit (27 points) in playoff history. However, they were put in that position after Lawrence had a shocking four interceptions in the first half.
They will not be able to overcome such mistakes in their Divisional Round matchup with the Chiefs. While the Kansas City offense gets much of the attention, their defense was very solid in 2022-2023. Lawrence and the crew will need to be mistake-free to keep pace with the KC offense this weekend.
- Playoff opponent: Chiefs
8. Minnesota Vikings
Justin Jefferson continued his ascension to elite status in 2022 and was a monster for the Minnesota Vikings this season. Kirk Cousins also did an outstanding job of giving him opportunities and Dalvin Cook again was an impact player on the ground. It is why the Vikings’ O was a well-oiled machine and one of the very best NFL offenses.
Unfortunately, in the biggest game of the year the offense was not its best version and the Giants’ defense managed to limit their superstar wideout to just 47 yards on seven catches. With Jefferson nullified, the offense was not quite as dynamic and they fell short with the game up for grabs in the fourth.
7. Dallas Cowboys (LW: 10)
Once Dak Prescott returned, after missing several weeks with a hand injury, the Dallas Cowboys offense soared throughout the second half of the season. They were able to post points with ease and have notched a couple of 40-point showings with the help of running back Tony Pollard.
However, in the final weeks of the season, Prescott started to stumble. That includes throwing at least one interception in the team’s last seven games. After such a hot run, they entered the NFL playoffs struggling to find consistency.
Well, on Wild Card Weekend they found their groove in a drubbing of the Buccaneers defense. Prescott was highly efficient (25 of 33 on his passes) and ended his interception streaking while adding 305 yards and four TDs through the air. He was also a part of a rushing attack that posted 128 yards combined on the ground.
- Playoff opponent: 49ers
6. San Francisco 49ers (LW: 8)
The San Francisco 49ers and their coaching staff deserve a world of credit for overcoming two starting QBs going down with season-ending injuries and having rookie Brock Purdy prepared to succeed from day one.
He has been outstanding in relief and the offense has taken leaps up our NFL offense rankings over the last few weeks. Last week, the offense was dynamite again. Despite Purdy’s first-half struggles, he dominated in the final two quarters and notched his first 300-yard and second three-TD game of his career. Christian McCaffrey and Deebo Samuel also notched 100-plus yard showings in a dominant playoff victory.
“Mr. Irrelevant” will have a tougher test in the Cowboys’ ferocious pass rush in the Divisional Round. If he can overcome Dallas, it would be another huge development step forward for the rookie quarterback.

Top 5 offenses in NFL 2022
5. Detroit Lions
Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions’ offense have been far better than expected in 2022. They have certainly had some low points, but their explosiveness is the only reason why they are still in contention for a playoff spot late into the season.
On Christmas Eve, the offense played well again in what has been a bit of a hot streak for them in recent weeks. However — as has been the story all year — their defense let them down by giving up 37 to the lowly Panthers.
On Sunday, they exploded again for 41 points against the Bears. But this time the defense did their job in one of the team’s best wins of the season. Goff threw three TDs and running back Jamaal Williams had a massive 144 yards showing on the ground.
4. Philadelphia Eagles (LW: 4)
Jalen Hurts was outstanding through the air and on the ground in year three and is a favorite to be the NFL MVP. Plus, Miles Sanders has also offered up another strong threat in the rushing game, and AJ Brown has been exactly what the team hoped for when they traded for him in April.
After missing a pair of games, Hurts was back on the field in the season finale versus the Giants. Although he was not in vintage form, it was a much-needed performance (229 yards, one INT) to knock off a little rust before a bye in the opening round of the NFL playoffs.
- Playoff opponent: Giants
3. Cincinnati Bengals (LW: 3)
It took some time for the Cincinnati Bengals offense to get going, due to Joe Burrow missing a lot of time this summer, but once they got in a rhythm they quickly rose back up our NFL offense rankings. Superstar wideout Ja’Marr Chase was a beast and Tee Higgins turned into an elite wingman in 2022-2023.
In Week 18, the offense rose to the occasion and helped to deny the rival Ravens a chance at a coin-flip that could decide home field for their Wild Card rematch next week. There is little reason to not expect another strong showing and win from Cincy in the opening round of the postseason.
On Wild Card Weekend, several injuries to the offensive line had a major effect on the offense. Nevertheless, they were still good enough to post 24 against a solid Ravens defense. If the unit’s front five can’t get healthier soon, the Bengals may have a built-in ceiling on how well they can perform in the remainder of the playoffs.
- Playoff opponent: Bills
2. Buffalo Bills (LW: 2)
Josh Allen played like an MVP candidate in 2022-2023, and Stefon Diggs was one of the best pass-catching targets on Earth. While the run game was not the equal of the passing attack, it has not stopped the Bills from having one of the best offenses in the NFL.
In Week 18, they played to stay in the hunt for a coin-flip in a potential AFC championship game and got the job done against the Patriots — who were playing for their playoff lives on Sunday. Allen was strong as he threw for 254 yards and three TDs, as he led the offense to a big late-season victory following the scary events of their Monday night game in Week 17.
In the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs, the offense posted stats. However, Allen’s two interceptions helped in keeping the game far closer than it should have been. Luckily for him, Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis led the way to 34 point showing and a playoff win.
- Playoff opponent: Bengals
1. Kansas City Chiefs (LW: 1)
Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs offense continued to chug along in 2022 after trading off superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill in the offseason and dealing with injuries in their receiving corps. In spite of it all, they were one of, if not the best NFL offense all season.
With a chance to solidify a first-round bye in the playoffs in Week 18, the Chiefs posted another 30+ point game in a win over the rival Raiders. The top squad in our NFL offense rankings will now have a week of rest as they wait to see who awaits them in the divisional round of the playoffs.
