Now, feast your eyes on the latest NFL offensive rankings following Week 16 of the 2022 NFL season.
20. Atlanta Falcons (LW: 17)
For the first half of the season, the Atlanta Falcons’ offense was one of the biggest surprises in the league. Veteran QB Marcus Mariota was reliable, and their rushing attack was one of the tops in the NFL. However, defenses eventually started to figure them out and forced Atlanta to beat them with their passing. It has since led to mixed results and Mariota being benched for rookie Desmond Ridder.
The once formidable offense continued putting up mundane numbers on New Year’s Day. However, they still posted enough (20 points) to score a win over a Kyler Murray-less Cardinals squad.
- Next opponent: Buccaneers
19. Carolina Panthers (LW: UR)
The Carolina Panthers’ offensive situation was a mess for much of the year. Baker Mayfield was a massive disappointment at QB and the team traded off their best player on the unit, Christian McCaffrey, before the NFL trade deadline. However, under interim head coach Steve Wilks has been far better.
They have scored 20 points or more in four of the last five weeks and Sam Darnold is having a mini-career renaissance. The former first-round pick threw for 341 yards and three TDs in a heartbreaking Week 17 loss to an NFL legend and the Bucs.
- Next opponent: Saints
18. New Orleans Saints (LW: 20)
This season has not at all been what the New Orleans Saints had hoped for. However, in spite of a season-long injury to expected starting QB Jameis Winston, the offense has been a bright spot in 2022. Twelve-year veteran Andy Dalton has been super-solid as the QB fill in and wide receiver Chris Olave has had a rookie-of-the-year level season.
In Week 17, their defense was the star of their game against the Eagles, however, Dalton and the unit had a solid performance against a good defense, and were part of a surprise win on the road against a short-handed Philly squad without Jalen Hurts.
- Next opponent: Panthers
17. New York Giants (LW: 19)
The New York Giants’ success on offense this season has been less about the overall talent, and more about great scheming, execution late, and Pro Bowl play from running back Saquon Barkley. Daniel Jones also deserves some credit for destroying all of the team’s QB rushing records and for being a very solid game manager.
Jones was the star in the Giants’ playoff spot clinching victory against the Cowboys on Sunday. As he posted four touchdowns, with two each coming through the air and on the ground. It’s part of why they jump up a couple of spots in this week’s NFL offense rankings.
- Next opponent: Eagles
16. Baltimore Ravens (LW: 15)
Lamar Jackson was having a very good season until a Week 13 knee injury sidelined him and the offense’s efficiency for the next month. Backup Tyler Huntley was not very good in his first couple of starts, however, the Baltimore Ravens coaching staff has tried to put him in more favorable positions since, and put more of the responsibility of the offense on the shoulders of their skills players.
On Sunday, running back JK Dobbins had a solid 93-yard performance on 5.5 yards per carry. And tight end Mark Andrews chipped in with 100 yards of his own, however, that was the most the unit could offer in a 13-point showing and loss in Week 17.
- Next opponent: Bengals
2022 NFL offensive stats – Scoring
Let’s take a look at the five NFL offenses that know how to run up the score and are averaging the most points per game heading into the final week of the NFL schedule.
- Kansas City Chiefs – 29.1
- Dallas Cowboys – 28.8
- Philadelphia Eagles – 28.4
- Detroit Lions – 27.1
- Buffalo Bills – 26.3
15. Green Bay Packers (LW: 14)
This has been a massively disappointing season for the Green Bay Packers, and especially their offense. They gave QB Aaron Rodgers an absurd contract in the offseason that pays him around $50 million annually, yet the O has been middle of the road at best for much of the year.
In Week 17, the offense benefitted from an outstanding performance by their defense and delivered on the four turnovers they were given. On the surface, 41 points seem like recent for hope, but outside of Aaron Jones’ 111-yard showing, there were few standout performances on the day. That is why they fall again in this week’s NFL offense rankings.
- Next opponent: Packers
14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (LW: 18)
This season has been a very difficult one for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Injuries and off-the-field drama have hampered them all year. Yet, in spite of it all, the offensive side of the ball has still been solid and ranks among the top five in the league in passing. It is the only reason why they were in the driver’s seat to win a division title in an awful NFL South this season.
With the NFC South on the line and down early, Tom Brady and Mike Evans took over the game against the Panthers and guided them to a Week 17 win. The NFL icon threw for a ridiculous 421 yards and three touchdowns, while Evans pulled in 207 of those yards.
- Next opponent: Falcons
13. Las Vegas Raiders (LW: 13)
The Las Vegas Raiders offense has been one of the more frustrating units in the NFL this season. T A career year from Josh Jacobs and a strong season from Davante Adams has been wasted due to poor scheming of head coach Josh McDaniels and a down year from long-time starting QB Derek Carr.
With Carr demoted, backup Jarrett Stidham had a mostly positive showing in his first start in the league on Sunday. His two interceptions likely cost them the game, however, you can’t overlook his 365 yards and three touchdown showing. They just had the bad luck of facing a 49ers offense that is just on fire right now.
- Next opponent: Chiefs
12. Seattle Seahawks (LW: 12)
Nfl Cardinals Vs Seahawks Seattle Seahawks At Arizona Cardinals
The Seattle Seahawks offense has been one of the feel-good stories of the 2022 NFL season. Many observers of the sport expected a major dropoff on that side of the ball with Russell Wilson gone, yet the team has been shockingly good at times due to Geno Smith’s strong play and rookie Kenneth Walker III having a breakout season.
It wasn’t pretty in Week 17, but in one of the biggest games of the year, the Seahawks O got it done against a very good Jets defense. Posting 23 points on the back of Walker 133 yards on the ground.
- Next opponent: Rams
11. Los Angeles Chargers (LW: 11)
Justin Herbert continues to look like a budding superstar in the new season and his crew of receivers has delivered despite some early injuries. After taking a nasty hit late in their Week 2 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, the starting QB had an off game in the follow-up but bounced back and has powered his unit to be one of the best NFL offenses.
In Week 17, they didn’t need more excellence from Herbert as running back Austin Ekeler had his best game of the season with 122 yards. Leading them to a dominant 31-10 win in the latest Battle of Los Angeles matchup against the Rams.
- Next opponent: Broncos
2022 NFL offensive stats – Passing
Here you can find which squads have totaled the most yards through the air heading into Week 18 of the NFL season.
- Kansas City Chiefs – 4,881 yards
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers – 4,450 yards
- Miami Dolphins – 4,371 yards
- Los Angeles Chargers – 4,291 yards
- Minnesota Vikings – 4,143 yards
NFL offense rankings: 10 best 2022
10. Miami Dolphins (LW: 10)
Outside of being without starting QB Tua Tagovailoa for a few weeks, the Miami Dolphins offense has been one of the most formidable squads in the NFL for much of 2022. Especially when it comes to the passing game where offseason acquisition Tyreek Hill has been everything the team hoped for. Yet, that wasn’t the case late in the season, especially when the QB went down with another concussion.
In Week 17 relief, backups Teddy Bridgewater and Skylar Thompson were solid, throwing for a combined 265 yards and two touchdowns, but their two interceptions were costly. Adding to the frustrations of their loss to the Patriots is that the Miami run game continues to be the weakness of the unit.
Next opponent: Jets
9. Dallas Cowboys (LW: 8)
Once Dak Prescott returned, after missing several weeks with a hand injury, the Dallas Cowboys offense soared throughout the second half of the season. They have been able to post points with ease and have notched a couple of 40-point showings with the help of running back Tony Pollard.
However, as the Cowboys head into the final weeks of the season, and in some of the biggest games of the year, Prescott has started to stumble. That includes a two-interception performance against the Titans in Week 17. Over the last six games, the Dallas QB has thrown at least one interception. While they are still formidable, Prescott’s consistent mistakes in recent weeks are cause for concern as they drop in our latest NFL offense rankings.
- Next opponent: Commanders
8. San Francisco 49ers (LW: 9)
After struggling in the early going of the season, the San Franciso 49ers offense got into a solid rhythm midway through the season. That was bolstered by the NFL trade deadline acquisition of star running back Christian McCaffrey and a strong effort from Jimmy Garoppolo in relief of an injured Trey Lance.
Unfortunately, the 49ers O took a massive hit in Week 13 when Garoppolo suffered a foot injury. However, backup Brock Purdy has been outstanding in relief and the offense has not missed a beat. On Sunday, he was strong again and got 121-yard help from McCaffrey on the ground and 101 from Brandon Aiyuk in the air to steal one late from the Raiders.
- Next opponent: Cardinals
7. Minnesota Vikings (LW: 4)
Justin Jefferson has continued his ascension to elite status in 2022, as he has been a monster for the Minnesota Vikings this season. Kirk Cousins has also done an outstanding job of giving him opportunities and Dalvin Cook has again been an impact player to lead the ground attack. It is why the Vikings’ offense is a well-oiled machine and one of the very best NFL offenses.
In Week 17 it was exactly the opposite as they had their worst game of 2022 and Cousins was a mess. As he threw three interceptions — two pick-sixes — and fumbled once in a disastrous loss to the Packers. That is why they drop a few spots in this week’s NFL offense rankings.
- Next opponent: Bears
6. Jacksonville Jaguars (LW: 7)
With new head coach Doug Pederson leading the team, Trevor Lawrence and the offense have been far more potent in 2022. They have a solid threat on the ground with Travis Etienne and a legit WR1 in Christian Kirk. However, they have also been very inconsistent at times.
While the team has had peaks and valleys this season, they are at a high point as we head to the close of the season. It showed in Week 16 as they faced their toughest test yet in an elite Jets defense. Lawrence was effective, avoided turnovers, and got the ball to tight end, Evan Engram. He had his second 100-plus-yard receiving game in the last three weeks.
Lawrence was quiet on Sunday, however, Etienne starred with a 108-yard showing as the offense posted a 30-plus point showing for the third time in the last four weeks.
- Next opponent: Titans
Top 5 offenses in NFL 2022
5. Detroit Lions (LW: 6)
Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions’ offense have been far better than expected in 2022. They have certainly had some low points, but their explosiveness is the only reason why they are still in contention for a playoff spot late into the season.
On Christmas Eve, the offense played well again in what has been a bit of a hot streak for them in recent weeks. However — as has been the story all year — their defense let them down by giving up 37 to the lowly Panthers.
On Sunday, they exploded again for 41 points against the Bears. But this time the defense did their job in one of the team’s best wins of the season. Goff threw three TDs and running back Jamaal Williams had a massive 144 yards showing on the ground.
- Next opponent: Bears
4. Philadelphia Eagles (LW: 3)
Jalen Hurts has been outstanding through the air and on the ground in year three. Plus, Miles Sanders has also offered up another strong threat in the rushing game, and AJ Brown has been exactly what the team hoped for when they traded for him in April.
In Week 16 they were without MVP candidate Hurts, and it didn’t matter. Showing how impressive the Eagles’ offensive blueprint is as backup Gardner Minshew threw for over 300 yards against a tough Cowboys defense. However, his two interceptions played a big role in their eventual loss.
That wasn’t the story on Sunday as the Saints held them to just 10 points and forced Minshew into an interception and scored nine QB hits on the backup signal-caller.
- Next opponent: Giants
3. Cincinnati Bengals (LW: 5)
It took some time for the Cincinnati Bengals offense to get going due to Joe Burrow missing a lot of time this summer. But once they got in a rhythm, they quickly rose back up our NFL offense rankings. Superstar wideout Ja’Marr Chase has been great and Tee Higgins has turned into an elite wingman.
In Week 18 they have a monumental clash with against the Ravens with the division title on the line. The team isn’t happy about the changes to the playoff format this year and the offense is likely to take out their frustrations on the Baltimore defense.
- Next opponent: Ravens
2. Buffalo Bills (LW: 2)
Josh Allen has been playing like an MVP in 2022, and Stefon Diggs is one of the best pass-catching targets on Earth. While the run game has not been the equal of the passing attack, it has not stopped the Bills from having one of the best offenses in the NFL for much of the season.
In Week 18, the Bills will look to emotionally bounce back from a trying week as they try and win one for Damar Hamlin in a matchup against the Patriots with massive playoff implications for both teams.
- Next opponent: Patriots
1. Kansas City Chiefs (LW: 1)
Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs offense have continued to chug along in 2022. Despite trading off superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill in the offseason, and dealing with injuries in their receiving corps, they have been one of the best NFL offenses all this season.
Week after week they make it look easy and Mahomes is taking all the fun out of throwing for 300 yards because he is doing it on a regular basis. It is very likely on Sunday for their season finale when they face the Raiders in what is sure to be an offensive shootout.
- Next opponent: Raiders
